Getting in Shape for the Ski Season – Part II

Well, it’s me, back again!  Just thought I would give you all an update on how it’s going with the old fitness slog.  It’s amazing how quickly the change from Summer to Winter happens, just three weeks ago I was running into work in just t-shirt and shorts but this week has been a total nightmare, I’ve been soaked through to the skin within minutes of leaving the house and been blown about all over the place!  I’ve also had the added pleasure of being seen as fair game by passing motorists driving through standing water and sending tidal waves my way.  Of course, all this amuses my colleagues especially as I sit at my desk with steam rising off me for the first hour of every day.  Normally, I would only use a windshirt when running but over the last couple of days I’ve had to dig out my waterproof jacket just to prevent being drowned out altogether.

The upside, however, is that I can feel the fitness and strength coming back already and that spurs me on for the forthcoming ski season.  Those who mock me now won’t be laughing as I glide past on the first run of the season!!  Anyway, I’ll will keep you posted on how it’s going and let’s hope the waterproof jacket can go back in the closet…for most days anyhow!!
